Volunteer with Vigilant Hope’s Pot Luck Dinner

Every Thursday at 6:00 PM, Vigilant Hope hosts a Pot Luck Dinner for the community at 24 S 16th Street, Wilmington. This is an opportunity to serve and build relationships with those in need while enjoying a delicious, home-cooked meal together.

Exciting Volunteer Opportunity for Myrtle Grove EPC!

We are excited to announce that our church congregation has the opportunity to volunteer with Vigilant Hope every second Thursday of each month throughout 2025.

Volunteering with us will be a great way to connect with our local community, serve others, and show Christ's love meaningfully. Here's what you can expect:

What Does Volunteering Involve?

  • A group of 5-7 people from our congregation will volunteer each Thursday evening.
  • Each volunteer will prepare a dish (main dish, side dish, or dessert) that serves at least 10 people.
  • Our role will be to share a meal and fellowship with the community. We will sit, eat, and engage with those who attend rather than serving the food.
  • We will have the chance to build relationships with the people in our community.

How to Sign Up

If you or your group would like to volunteer on a Thursday evening, please select one (or more!) Thursdays from the list below to sign up. When signing up, please provide one contact name for your group.

About Vigilant Hope: A Center for Mercy and Justice

Vigilant Hope is committed to making a difference in our community through a Christ-centered approach. They focus on mercy and justice in everything they do.

  • Jesus-centered: They are committed to following the example of Jesus as a community and honoring His teachings to love God and our neighbor.
  • Listening: Vigilant Hope listens to the Holy Spirit, to our vulnerable neighbors, and to each other to best seek mercy and justice for our city.
  • Relational: Everything they do seeks to initiate or deepen relationships with God or between people from different walks of life. They believe it is difficult to love someone you don’t know, so they are dedicated to creating spaces where relationships can form.
  • Development-driven: Vigilant Hope is committed to seeking solutions that restore our community by bringing complex threads together and inviting the church to participate actively in this restorative work. In times of crisis, immediate relief is necessary; however, they also focus on long-term development to help bring sustainable change.
